Two Spider Monkeys, Pauly, 17 years old and Jelly, 16 years old, were acquired from a pet store owner in Rochester who felt that Pauly, kept at home because of his aggressive behavior, was too isolated and asked the sanctuary to adopt him. Pauly soon made friends with two other capuchin monkeys and after seeing how contented and well-adjusted Pauly had become in his new home, the owner decided to also give Jelly to the sanctuary. Pauly was overjoyed to see her and they became inseparable. When I turn on the chimps’ TV in the morning, Pauly is the first one to greet me, embracing me with his prehensile tail, confirming their capacity to not only bond with each other but with humans as well
